Film Making – A Call to Southern Steampunks and those willing to travel

Posted by admin | Full Steam | Tuesday 22 June 2010 8:05 pm

An update for all you theatrical types who might fancy rocking up to be extras in this film…….

The dates when extras will be required are :

Tuesday 6th July

Wednesday 7th July

And likely times will be 9am – 6 / 6.45 pm.

Now, Amin, the charming director, would dearly like people to come on the Monday evening and camp at a site approximately 10 minutes from the location for both days if possible, or turn up at about 9am on Tuesday – there will be time to get into ones finery on arrival.

This is a voluntary exercise, in order to support the students, and a chance to be immortalized on “celluloid” in your favourite costume(s). There will also be a high calibre photographer on set from whom one can obtain stills as a memento.

The cut off date for registering intent to attend is by the end of Monday 28th June.

I appreciate that this is short notice – I am told that this is typical for a student film – but the team do want to do justice to the genre / lifestyle, and it would also be fun for anyone who could manage it.

Please contact Vanessa directly through the Facebook group : http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/group.php?gid=118736638149843 for more information, and note that there should be a working website in the very near future.

Many thanks

A Rally Cry to The League to Support a Student Film !!

Good evening my dears, hope the typically British changeable weather finds you all well.

Yesterday Neil and I had the pleasure of meeting the production team of a student film in the making called “Tick Tock”, which is “A Steampunk creepy short film”, at Bournemouth University.

Vanessa, the very charming producer had emailed me to see if anyone would like to help them in their endeavours, and during the course of the meeting it became clear that members of the League might be suitable extras, may have props and accessories that could be useful, or may like to make donation to support a Steamy cause. As a student production it is of course tightly budgeted, so the concepts of beg and borrow are top of the list.

Their Facebook group is here :

And I would ask everyone to check it out and join as group members to show support.

Filming is happening at the South Devon Railways in early July, and I would ask anyone who would like to offer more concrete support to contact Vanessa directly through the Facebook group in order to keep things simple for them, rather than trying to organise it from a League perspective.

I do have a Production pack as it stands with some details regarding props required, and I believe that a more definite list is being prepared.

I have read the script and think it is very good, and will translate beautifully to film. The production team have been thoroughly researching and we have pointed them in other directions that may be helpful as well.

So, if you feel you can step up to the plate, your Student Film Makers Need You!!

Many thanks!!!

Engineer, Sir Angus Poiselamppe, Paul, Clive, Kirsty and some of her girlfriends had a great day out at the Beaulieu Steam Revival. The weather was perfect, there was a great collection of engines and we got to ride on a traction engine’s trailer, a steam powered carousel and an 1875 steam carriage.
