Something for August/September

Great Dorset Steam Fair. This is the largest steamed event in the UK possibly the world?

By 'apenchanch (which is just outside Finchley) we've just recruited the camp-site manager to our Pirate group.

So we can offer - a dedicted (sky) pirate and other such persons camp from the bank Holiday onwards. From what I understand if you go after the holiday the event takes on a different character as many of the more um, itinerant and colourful characters depart. Your mission is to take their place! We can also negotiate a "floating" group entry ticket.

For those wishing to have a purpose, I propose (if I can make it work!) a sort of non-combat larp THING. Provisionally entitled (MBE & bar) "The search for the Sauce of the Nile". So entrepid researchers and feindish villains (henchmen for hire at seasonal rates! apply Cpt R Crow) required.

Or just come and smell the steam.

Note to self don't post while listening to esteamed radio Goon show.

Mini Steam on Poole Quay, 22 May

Here's a little something closer to home - just around the corner from our shop!

perhaps a little light something afterwards? IF a lot of people were interested, go dinner, I'd see about hiring the lower room in the Blue Boar. Don't do social networs, so please contact site organisers.

Cor! An event that me 'n 'er in doors can get to! And with sufficient warning!

That is if you don't mind more rough n ready Gentlepersons of the Air as well as some of their motley crew of ner do well, vagabonds, thugees and downright coves?

Perhaps you'd like some such on the door?

Dress code as regards to weapons, which will either be LARP style or nemesis now guns (IF they ever get organised-).

By the way, I have some old connection with the Dalek Builders Guild in the area.

Starts argument, can Daleks be considered Steampunk?

Do you want to ask one?

There is, in the older part of Poole, a shop like no-other.

Caution must be taken, 'cos strange chaps in black, their collars raised and their hats low enter at unusual times. Talk inside can turn to subjects alchemical, spiritual or piratical. Indeed, discreet signs state that should you wish to hire the services of pirates, then enquire. Further evidence of strange cultists, giant lobsters in the dark, abandoned places of the word can also be found. There is talk of vampire pirates and sky-pirates yet to be encountered.

Strange devises can be purchased, or ordered, within. Should you wish more mundane items such as a severed head or a silver spike (werewolf grade)these are of-the-shelf. Companies such as Alchemy Gothic and nemesis Now abound.

Further comments can be heard about strange travel to Mars and the other colonies, and battle done thereof to such foes of the British Empire as are found there. Further mention of "Space 1899" and Wessex games VSF series, and evidence thereof of such land leviathans and aeronefs, both human and Martian as chonicled by Mr Wells and others, can be had.

Unfortunately such mundane matters as these prevent myself Guv (quartermaster of the crew of the Black Rose, privateer 'nef out of the Port o Poole) and Captain Rosie Crow from joining you at the next meeting. Hopefully one of our crew, a certain Mr Byron, will join you. Beware.

Please feel free to drop into our quiet little shop. I know some of you know the way, 'cos there's some familiar faces here.
